The Wedderburn Mental Health Group is starting up once again and will be auspiced by the Wedderburn Community House.
Mental Health is an very important issue in any community and assisting people understand more about this can improve the level of people’s health and wellbeing overall. The House is particularly pleased to be involved in this initiative and able to assist with the group’s formation.
This group is open to anyone in the community. You might be someone with a mental health issue, you might be a carer or you might just be someone who has an interest in mental health. Wherever you fit, you are more than welcome to come along for a cuppa and a chat on the first Wednesday of the month between 10 and 12. Gatherings will be held in the quiet and privacy of the craft room.
Initially the group will be co-ordinated by Ric Raftis, a Wedderburn resident. Ric has had considerable experience in the mental health field. He has been a Community Visitor in the mental health stream for 3 years, is the Victorian co-ordinator of the Black Dog Ride and is also a founding member of the Loddon Healthy Minds Committee.
Mental health issues that require advocacy can be passed back to the Loddon Healthy Minds Committee with the consent of the parties involved. The committee has a strong interest in the success of Mental Health Groups in the Shire’s towns and are right behind the formation of the Wedderburn group.
If you have any queries about the group, contact Ric Raftis on 0407 412100.
