Normally our Farmers Markets are from 9am until 1pm but this time it will be extended due to the nature of the festival.
Last year we had over 65 stalls at our festival as well as 8 stalls at our inaugural Farmers Market.
Today we have 12 stallholders who come on a regular basis including Harcourt Apples, Coopers Pies, Red Neds Wines, Hercotts Naturally (goats milk soaps), Wattlebee Herbs, Wedderburn Community House sauces/preserves, Bushtrack Bee Honey, Les Smith Plants, Dunolly Garlic, Hard Hill Eucy, Chook Tucker (live poultry), The Chocolate Man and Borung Poultry.
We also have our CWA stall with home cooked cakes, soups and slices.
The BBQ for this month’s market will be run by the Wedderburn Community House. Each month the BBQ is given to a community organisation to help with their fundraising and has proven to be very popular. As are all the other food stalls on offer. We have the Spud Man, Gelati Van, Lisa’s Donuts and other foods too numerous to mention. This year we have the Yemaya Festival putting on a huge display which will include alternative foods adding another dimension to the market.
Once you have chosen what to indulge in you can then sit and listen to the quality entertainment provided free of charge. Starting with Ras Jahknow and his reggae band from Melbourne. Ras has performed with Lamine Sonko who came and entertained us last year. Lamine and his band African Intelligence were a huge success. Lamine has recommended Ras to us and if you want to see him perform you can look him up on u tube. We also have returning for their second market performance buskers ‘Bleach’ from Bendigo, two young men who wowed the crowd when they performed at our June market. We will also have a large sound stage set up with music from the Yemaya Festival group to help promote their festival coming up in January to be held at Fernihurst. So there will be something for everyone to enjoy listening or dancing to.
Our market has been funded by Regional Development Victoria with a start up grant, Loddon Shire Council, Wedderburn Tourism Inc. and the Wedderburn Lions Club. Without these organisations we would not be able to bring this great Farmers Market to the community of Wedderburn and surrounding district. The Wedderburn Farmer’s Market is the only one of its kind in the Loddon Shire.
We have great facilities here at the Wedderburn Community Centre with toilets, shady trees, great gardens and a real market atmosphere so come along and be a part of the Wedderburn Famers Market this October!
